I have updated the Druid Resto Mega Guide with a list of gems. Here is my list for gems in your druidly sockets! I have listed only the blue gems, epic gems are not in the game yet. There are more gems listed here then I would advise you to take. But not everyone has the same preferences and might miss some stats for their task at hand, so I decided to incorporate them.
Red
Made from the gem Scarlet Ruby:
Runed Scarlet Ruby – 19 spellpower
Orange
Made from the gem Monarch Topaz:
Luminous Monarch Topaz – 9 spellpower and 8 intellect
Reckless Monarch Topaz – 9 spellpower and 8 haste rating
Potent Monarch Topaz - 9 spellpower and 8 critical strike rating
Yellow
Made from the gem Autumn’s Glow:
Brilliant Autumn’s Glow – 16 intellect
Green
Made from the gem Forest Emerald. There are no green gems with spellpower. But that does not mean you cannot fit any:
Dazzling Forest Emerald – 8 intellect and 6 mana per 5 seconds
Intricate Forest Emerald - 8 haste rating and 8 spirit
Seer’s Forest Emerald – 8 spirit and 8 intellect
Timeless Forest Emerald - 12 stamina and 8 intellect
Blue
Made from the gem Sky Sapphire:
Sparkling Sky Sapphire – 16 spirit,
Solid Sky Sapphire – 24 stamina
Lustrous Sky Sapphire – 6 mana per 5 seconds
Purple
Made from the gem Twilight Opal
Royal Twilight Opal – 9 spellpower and 3 mana per 5 seconds
Purified Twilight Opal – 9 spellpower and 8 spirit (not in the game yet!)
Glowing Twilight Opal – 9 spellpower and 12 stamina.
What choice should you make? I think that you should put Runed Scarlet Ruby in your red sockets spellpowerrrrrr! Purified Twilight Opal in your blue sockets for the spellpower and always needing spirit (or get Royal Twilight Opal) . Luminous Monarch Topaz lacking intellect in your yellow sockets. The other gems are nice, but only if you think you lack a certain stat (remember: Spellpower, Spirit, Intellect, Stamina, Haste, Crit)
Meta gems
Meta gems are made by alchemists and are far less expensive then in the TBC. The two meta gems are Earthsiege Diamond and Skyflare Diamond. A meta gems requires a combination of normal gems to work. The combination gems (purple, green and orange) counts for the color the meta needs. The gems for restoration druids are:
Bracing Earthsiege Diamond – 24 spellpower and 2% reduced threat, requires 2 blue gems and 1 red gem.
Ember Skyflare Diamond – 24 spellpower and 2% intellect, requires 3 red gems.
Forlorn Skyflare Diamond – 24 spellpower and 10% reduced silence period, requires 2 yellow gems and 1 blue gem.
Trenchant Earthshatter Diamond - 24 spellpower and 10% reduced stun period, requires 1 red, 1 yellow and 1 blue gem.
The last two gems can also be bought for 15 Stone Keepers Shard in Wintergrasp but with 5 spellpower less.
I do not have any threat problems, so I suggest you take Ember Skyflare Diamond.
Here is a list with weapons available at different heroics and raids. Staves and maces could make you to have to make a hard choice!
Staves:
Staff of Draconic Combat – Cache of Eregos in the Oculus Heroic, a very nice staff to get from an heroic. You won’t be exchanging this one soon if you are lucky enough to have it!
Sulfur Stave – Loatheb in Naxxramas Normal (10 man), a staff with hit rating nice for Moonkins or Mages but hit rating is not needed for restoration druids.
Charmed Cierge – Chest after 4 Horsemen in Naxxramas Normal (10 man), more spirit and less intellect then the Staff of Draconic Combat, one staff to get!
Greatstaff of the Nexus – Malygos in the Eye of the Eternity Normal (10 man), no spirit and it has hit rating. I’d look for another staff, unless this one is much much better then you already have.
Damnation – Four Horsemen in Naxxramas Heroic (25 man), has got a lot of crit on it.
Spire of Sunset – Thaddius in Naxxramas Heroic (25 man), high spellpower, no spirit but it has mp5s.
Staff of Restraint – Sartharion in Obsidian Sanctum Heroic (25 man), best staff for a druid for now because of high spellpower and spirit (too bad it has crit instead of haste!).
Maces:
These two are the only maces with spirit on them. Maces with an off-hand mostly result in higher spellpower and make up for the loss in mana per 5 seconds in raw mana per 5 seconds are a choice. A list of maces maces:
Ice Spire Scepter - Malygos in the Eye of the Eternity (25 man)
The Impossible Dream – Loatheb in Naxxramas Heroic (25 man)
Titansteel Guardian – A crafted mace from blacksmiths!
War Mace of Unrequited Love – Keristrasza in the Nexus Heroic, i’d pass on this one there are better ones around!
Infection Repulser – Grobbulus Naxxramas Normal (10 man), good mace, no spirit.
Hammer of the Astral Plane – Kel’Thuzad in Naxxramas Normal (10 man), more a balance type mace, the maces stated above are better because of their spirit and this mace has no mana per 5 seconds.
Torch of Holy Fire – Kel’Thuzad in Naxxramas Heroic (25 man), the weapon with the highest spellpower, best weapon in current game content (3.0.8).
Off-hand
If you use maces you must use an off-hand. Here’s a list of off-hands:
Prison Manifest – a drop from trash in Voilet Hold. Since it is BoE you could get yourself one on the AH. This offhand is a nice start.
Watchful Eye – Grand Widow Faerlina in Naxxramas Normal (10 man), nice off-hand but it has hit-rating on it.
Hateful Gladiator’s Reprieve – A pvp item, but a decent amount of spirit and spellpower. Price not known.
Handbook of Obscure Remedies – Obtainable for 25 Eblems of Heroism.
Deadly Gladiator’s Reprieve – A pvp item, but good stats. Costs are 1.350 arena points.
Matriarch’s Spawn – Maexxna in Naxxramas Heroic (25 man), best off-hand around. Highest spellpower and spirit.
Accursed Spine – Noth the Plaguebringer in Naxxramas Heroic (25 man), nice off-hand with slightly less stats then the Matriarch’s Spawn. One to go for if you have enough haste and lack crit.
A short message: I have updated the Resto Mega Guide with more Glyphs and Enchants!
In the guide I try to help you with your choosing of talents. I have listed gear, glyphs and enchants to help you out. Let me know what you think of the guide, feedback is greatly appreciated.
Cheers and good luck in Azeroth,
Raaff
P.S. Could someone cast a cure disease? *Sniff Sneeze*
I never really used macro’s. There are few I use, but only one very often (NS+HT). I would like you to comment or mail (raaff …at… druidheal.com) me and tell me which macro you like to use and why. I will make a nice post of it to benefit us all!
My macro:
#showtooltip Healing Touch
/stopcasting
/cast Nature's Swiftness
/cast [target= focus] Healing Touch
This should give you an instant 8-9K heal! If you use Healbott, use hbtarget instead of focus if you want to use it.
Now show me yours!
