About Raaff

I am Raaff and live on the Runetotem EU realm. I have been healing since I got to lvl 60 in World of Warcraft. I am a hardcore casual gamer (can you be both? oh well more hardcore then a casual gamer or more casual then a hardcore gamer, still following me?). I did not have the pleasure to see all end game raid dungeons like Naxxramas and Sunwell Plateau. My job does not let me raid enough to join a guild that will see those end game raids.

I love to play around with stats, talents and gear. That is why you will see me around with some weird gear, enchants or gems. This blog is created to share my views with the world and hope to get some feedback.

See you around on Runetotem or on the net!

Started playing World of Warcraft february 2005

  • Joined the infamous Blood Axes: while being a total nab I had a lot of fun while leveling until about lvl 30.
  • Joined Manefesto Mortis: even more stupidness and no clue about stats and game mechanics until about level 50.
  • Joined Nameless Army: here it all began, I joined at level 59 and started going to MC, BWL and ZA raids. I learned more and more about game mechanics. When I finally got to understand it, things changed for TBC.

The Burning Crusade:

  • Nameless Army became Ex Inferis: Since TBC needed something else guild wise, we started all over again. I delved deep into the game mechanics and made good progress in healing, being a tree had never been sooooo much fun! After a lot of Karazhan, we went on to slay Maulgar, Gruul and Magtheridon. Now it was time to see the T5 content and we got far into TK and SSC. Alas due to patches and a incoming expansion (bah it was more then a year away!) I never got to down Kael’thas and Lady Vashj. People wanted to see more of the world, since new patches opened up new possibilities as good badge gear, Mount Hyal and Black Temple. So we ventured into new dungeons.
  • Class Leader Ex Inferis: when we started farming Gruul’s Liar I became Captian of the Trees, and stayed untill the bitter end.
  • Ex Inferis disbanded, joined Odins Fury: in OF I cleared MH (although I wasn’t really there when we downed Archimonde, I never got beyond 32% :( ) and got to Reliquary of Souls (fun boss!), then the release date of WotLK was announced and raiding had come to an end.
  • I left Odins Fury in january 2009 and I joined Kuba.

Wrath of the Lich King:

  • Started Druid Heal.com.
  • Cleared Naxxramas, Ulduar (getting those heroic modes! and The Coliseum (10 N/H and 25N now at Twins on heroic)
  • Left Kuba in september 2009 and started a trail with Borderland Legion. Oh and I turned to cat….
  • Passed trail at Borderland Legion and still clawing away!
You there, tell me!

You there, tell me!

Well I figure I should probably tell you a little about myself since I’ll probably be bothering you with questions for at least a while.

I Started my WoW career as a hunter named Asmina on the U.S. server Dethecus and reached level 60 just in time for all raiding to come to a standstill before BC was released. I then progressed to 70 and was in a small family guild that never made it into Kara before deciding we wanted to try out being Horde. At that point I was ready for a change of pace so we all moved to U.S. server Maelstrom where I rolled an orc shaman. Once again I went to 70 and bein in a small family guild only saw the beginnings of Kara before WotlK was announced and we all started goofing off on alts.

Up till then I had never really done more then dps in my family guild, and a few pugs. I decided I wanted to try raiding, and with an invite from some friends I had known on Dethecus I once again changed servers back to alliance and leveled a rogue to 72 on Whisperwind. I wasn’t happy with my raiding prospects as a rogue however and began my druid Figluster. He is at the moment 78, and already in demand among my friends who never fail to poke at me for not being 80 yet. Keep in mind that when I left my rogue at 72 we were all at about that level.

With the knowledge that the day I hit 80 I will be drowned in heroics to catch them in gear I’m a bit nervous to do my best for them not only because they are friends, but also to secure a spot as one of the top healers relativly quickly. I don’t want to think I left my family on another server to raid and didn’t make the most of it.

Well thats about all the boring details I can come up with and I hope if nothing else you read this late at night and it helps you fall asleep. Thank you again for all the work you are doing for us new trees.

    Hi all,

Thought i would do a quick overview of myself to add to the blossoming “about me” selection.

My name is Cybac and i live on The Venture Co, European server.

I started life in vanilla WoW about 4 months before TBC was launched. Levelled to 58 before TBC, playing on and off, so i never really got to see MC and BWL. I hit level 70 and became Arch Druid for our guild (of which I am now Deputy GM, my brother being the GM since before I started playing WoW).

I tanked for a fair few months, helping to clear KZ, Gruul and the first few bosses in TK and SSC, however we are a smaller guild of older members, mostly with jobs and family and so it is a touch harder for us to get a consistant 25 man team together and settled.

Cyb has always been a resto tree at heart though, respeccing feral to tank only at times where the guild really needs an extra something that can take a battering.

I also played Boomkin quite heavily, and have levelled to 80 as boomy, at which point i have returned faithfully to my healing roots (within the space of under 10 minutes of ding dong i had respec’d).

We are now working on Naxx, I have completed both heroic Archa and Obsidian and normal modes and we are now looking to clear Naxx to open up the Eye of Eternity. I’ll be looking to get into some Heroic Nax runs as well in the next couple of weeks.

I’m pretty much into doing a shed load of research on talents, kit and the dynamics that exist between them.

My goal is to try and hit 2300 + SP with good mana regen. Not something i think is going to be easy, but i do think it’s possible.

    Cheers again,

    Cyb

I’m not sure if this is really the place to say it, but I wanted to tell you that your site has at least one succses story coming from it.

Upon following your guide, and with no prior healing or Druid experience of my own I am now 80, and have completed every heroic but Oculus, and that one really has nothing to do with what class you are anyway..supid dragons, and last night was able to attend my guilds 2nd erver Kara 10. We managed to clear all of it but the final 2 bosses before it was late and we were all done for the night.

Thank you once again for making this resource, and I’ll be sure to pass it on to any up and coming Droods in need =)

    Hello all,

My name is Yoxx and I live on Drenden US. Recently I have strayed away from my family (Priests of Discord) due to some officer issues but I imagine that they will be reconciled and I will be joining them again. I have found your site very imformative. I have been a level 80 druid healer for over 6 months now and have fully and happily enjoyed all of the endgame content. I am a seasoned healer that knows his class well and I have a confession to make… I came to this site in search of a single answer (Lifebloom stacking). As much as I hate to admit it I was completely and totally unaware that if you stack LB the end heal is greater with the number of stacks! I am so ashamed! That information will allow our three MT’s to have a higher survivability during Patchwerk or any other burst damage fight.

I just came to say I am here to support all of you trees. Don’t ever feel inferior to any other class of healer. I feel that the tree is more versatile than any other class as far as healing is concerned. I top healing done in all instances and am at the bottom of over healing done. You can truely turn the tide of a battle whether it be PVE or PVP. You are the clutch player. Once your healing hits 2K HPS you will be amazed at how well the rest of your raid is standing up to damage. (You’ll also wonder why that priest is just constantly AE healing every fight :) )

Personal note though. If you are in a guild that isn’t allowing you to raid/see endgame content because they are more priest and paladin driven than go solo. Once you have done some heroics and have 187/200 gear you can stand in the middle of Dalaran and pug everything from Heroics, 10 man, and 25 man instances. There isn’t a better raid healer that isn’t fight specific than a druid. Once your mp5 and haste is in check you can successfully heal MT and keep HoTs on over 10 players at one time. You’ll even be tanking

Great forum and glad that I read it.

    Well….hello!
I just found this site while looking for some druid info.
I am a female gamer, from Australia.
I have been wowing it up since 2006.
My first baby was a rogue, which is now 80 and has done pretty much all TBC raiding content.
I gave up playing for awhile and then came back to Lich King and made a *gulp* deathknight…….
Yeh I know, I know…….still they are a hell of a lot of fun regardless.

So..now….I am currently levelling a druid, Toefu on Thaurissian oceanic.
Shes just a baby right now, but Im loving her!

So, Im sure there will be much learnt from this site for me.

I have levelled a priest to 70 before, but she was shadow, not a healer, so this is a new and exciting experience!

  • Dawnte says:

Is there anyway you can post a link to your spec, or suggest a good one for me! my druid would appreciate it ;)

  • Kareane says:

First, thank you so much for your guide. It was more comprehensive for me than anything I’ve read for droods before. My main is Kareane lv 80 Balance druid on Caelestrasz, Oceanic server. So my story goes a little something like this. I started playing WoW about 15 months ago. Quickly made a few close friends and we went all the way to 70 together just the group of us. We were our own five man. So needless to say I never really learned how to play the game, just what worked for us. I was mostly balance specced and still healing 5 mans, hey what can i say? So when WoTLK came out I joined a casual raiding guild and made it to about lv75 before I realized I wasn’t specced correctly and couldn’t heal or dps the way I needed to… a choice needed to be made. I went to balance and had a lot of fun learning about it. The problem is I’m not very good. I lived 75 lvs mostly healing and i’m begining to wonder if i made the wrong choice. So I’ve saved the money for the Dual-spec and here we go. I’m going to buy it tonight and I have your site surfing for Resto builds. Thank you so much for the work you’ve done. Wish me luck… I suck at Dps even though I love it, I really want to be a successfull healer. I feel pretty good about this, I understand everythin you’ve been talking about way better than I ever did the Dps stuff. I’ll be talking to you again, i’m sure. :)

Do you have alts? Now many of them? :)

  • Raaff says:

    Alts? what are alts?

I got few, none of ‘m above lvl 60 though (the dk is on lvl 60). One hunter level 48, another druid lvl 24, and some below level 20 alts. In total about 15.

  • Talsaey says:

Im a female gamer from the USA and a new level 80 druid healer on stormreaver covered in blues… and farmed myself ENTIRELY the lovely lunar eclipse robes. LOVE. I also have an 80 pally (My first… my worst lol) and forever I have focused on farming, professions, and making so much gold its ridiculous. Now I’ve decided to focus on my healing, which I’m not too bad at – aside from lack of gear. I’ve read your abouts, your what-fors, and your overall gear informations, and I know that you don’t seem to have an opinion about ‘whats best’, as you like to try new thins and stretch limits. But maybe if you have advice for someone covered in blues, about to hit an expansion, and NOT able to raid (a monstrous vicious cycle of not having the GS or the achievements… but not GETTING the gs or achievements because I can’t come alone) and NOT able to join a raiding guild…. *sigh*, work… What do you think the best gear for me to focus on is? Im a JC, the best gems? Focus on Intellect? Spirit? SP? (Sp even though the expansion claims to do away with it)… If you have time please help ;)
